Workshop offers insight into new tourism product developmentIn November, 2007, Celes facilitated a community-based experiential tourism workshop called Fundy Riches and Valley Traditions in Annapolis-Digby, Nova Scotia. Funded by the Annapolis Digby Economic Development Agency in partnership with NS Economic Development, Nova Scotia Tourism, Culture & Heritage, and the Applied Geomatics Group in the Annapolis Valley, this workshop was about experiential tourism.
"For rural Canadians, it's the 64-thousand dollar question: How can small communities sustain themselves in the face of economic and industrial change? Celes Davar has been on a quest to find the answer and discovered his life's passion in the process....Davar now travels the the country to share his knowledge about how communities can develop new tourism products based on the potential for extraordinary experiences in their own backyard, experiences which, at the local level, may seem quite ordinary." Best Practices Mission learns from Earth RhythmsHi Celes,
"I’ve been asked to provide a testimonial with regard to the Experiential Tourism Best Practices Mission and thought I should take the opportunity to communicate with you. I will take this opportunity to again thank you for the experience and the pleasure of having all too briefly mentored under your guidance – and it was an experience to remember. As I mention in the testimonial, I’ve already initiated several new partnerships that should prove hugely beneficial as well as interesting.
Seriously, and sadly, this is the first conference/mission that offered as much benefit and relevance to practice as I’ve seen in some years. Surprising because all we did was play! A reflection of your capability, personality and professionalism I believe."

Riding Mountain Infusions getaway for couples sparklesHi Celes,
Those photos are beautiful! Thanks for sending them so quickly - I can speak for both Joel and myself about our experience:
Starting off on a beautifully still and frosty morning, with an enthusiastic, welcoming, and very informative guide, we made our way across the crunchy snow of Grayling Lake. The hoarfrost lay on the pines and tamaracks like fine lace, creating a beautiful monochromatic landscape. The stillness belied the obvious presence of coyotes, wolves, and elk, and we didn't have to search for long to find evidence of their activity.
Wandering up a small ravine revealed the winter beauty of the Weeping Forest - the layers of ice created by the water seeping out of the hillside lay like multicoloured puddles of wax, building up atop one another and freezing in amazing shapes and tones. It was a fantastic experience - connecting with Manitoba's natural wonders with a small group allowed great conversation, a relaxed atmosphere, and the ability to enjoy the outdoors on a very personal basis. The pictures taken could only capture a single frame of the gorgeous panorama, but they'll always lead to stories and memories. The wonderful homemade muffins and herbal tea only added to the personalized and welcoming outing!
How fortunate we are to be able to have the beauty of Riding Mountain National Park revealed to us by such a personable, intelligent, and ecologically-conscious entrepreneur! And no matter how much you think you know about the outdoors, Riding Mountain always has something new to show you - don't miss it!
Cheers, and all the best!!
Jen and Joel

Three generations of family celebrates togetherEmily Goerz and her family (staying at the Elkhorn Resort's Vacations for Life time share units asked Earth Rhythms to create a memorable one-day experience for to help celebrate her husband's 70th birthday. She shares her observations...."The skill of Celes Davar in customizing a family adventure for a range of ages from 8 years to 70 years was amazing. We were impressed with the exacting attention to details. The GPS adventure moved along effortlessly. It challenged out family to work together as a team to discover several geocaches, culminating with our own very unique treasure. Superb! The day spent exploring with Earth Rythmns was like a "precious jewel....it was a 'moment in time' that will be cherished by our family for a lifetime. Thank you!
A customized fall adventure
Creating customized experiences is an Earth Rhythms specialty. Working with small to medium sized groups, we have many opportunities to showcase the Riding Mountain area. One such experience in the fall of 2006 involved creating a five-hour program for a group of about 14 people.
Eveline Pallinak, the organizer for the group shares her enthusiasm in the following comments.."We have received many thanks yous, congratulations and job well done in selecting your company and especially you for our Art in the Barn and geocaching experience in the Riding Mountain this past week....As you know some of our members were from different parts of Canada and the US and were all experienced and well travelled individuals. But I don't think any of them experienced anything quite like what you provided for us on September 13th...Of course, the lunch that you provided was excellent and was everything I had hoped it would be, from the Elk sausages to the Birch Sap Wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with you and we will remember it for many years to come. Being a native Manitoban, I will never look at the Riding Mountains the same way again, and that is due to your passion and committment to the area and everything in it."
An Overwhelming SuccessWithout a doubt, we believe that the Riding Mountain area offers our guests an opportunity to do some very different kinds of things, to have opportunities to discover more about themselves, and to enjoy this internationally recognized destination. Terry Smith, President and CEO and Brock Bulbuck, Senior VP and COO with the Boyd Group offer their perspective about a showcase event customized for the Boyd Group Inaugural Managers' Conference....
"We would like to thank you for helping to make the Boyd Group Inc.'s Inaugural Managers' Conference (Aug. 26 - 28, 2001) an overwhelming success. We were most impressed with how well each of your activities contributed to meeting our specific objectives....'thank you and congratulations' to you and your entire Earth Rhythms' team for exceeding our expectations and in doing so, allowing us to exceed our expectations of our valued management team". (110 managers from 8 US states and 4 Western Provinces)
Looking beyond our paradigmsFor many years, Earth Rhythms and associates have been creating and delivering customized corporate team retreats and team learning programs. These have been delivered at Riding Mountain National Park, in Winnipeg, and many other locations throughout Manitoba. One of our long-term clients has been Princess Auto.
Bob Tallman, owner of the company offered his comments about a senior management retreat that Earth Rhythms coordinated..."I was looking for an opportunity to take a group which was newly formed, and give them an opportunity to learn to work and have fun together. By choosing an outside theme I was hoping that the barriers which exist in the office setting would disappear. I think on balance we received exactly what I was looking for plus we learned a little bit about the area and it's wildlife. I think in retrospect it has provided a lasting imprint upon our senior leadership team. One of having created a greater sense of team and also of looking beyond our own paradigms."
