A lot has been changing in the past three years in terms of how people travel, and what they are looking for when they travel. In a recent traveller sentiment report (what travellers are feeling about travel at this time), from social media marketing agency Sparkloft Media, shared with SKIFT (a global market research firm), they found three key shifts are taking place:
That travel is now considered to be part of a self-care journey, not just about wellness. Rather, it’s that travel experiences are part of a holistic wellness journey for the self.
Many people post-Covid have ended up with, or discovered the benefits of being digital nomads, where they can live and benefit from being in a destination of choice without having to be tethered to a 9 - 5 daily schedule to a brick building in a downtown core, where the cost of parking and the time wasted in daily travel, has become a distant memory.
It’s about listening to your guests and realizing that their interests and needs are opportunities to offer a more meaningful kind of travel.

It’s with these shifts in mind that we received some thoughtful feedback from some recent guests.
They said, “Your guide had an immense amount of knowledge of the area and lots of stories to go along with them. I had always wanted to visit the fairy cottages and go inside when I was a kid and that dream came true! Also he really listened to what we liked to do and took us to the best places. The malt house was a lot of fun. Highlight of the trip was the walk on the Guzzle. We really enjoyed walking at Grand Pre and seeing the bald eagle nest. That was a great touch.
And for the second adventure that they took part in, they said, “The highlight was seeing the dirt (down in the apple orchard) - that sounds weird but your guide made it really interesting to learn about the soil around the area. We really enjoyed the walk and hike and the snacks!”
When you travel, ask the person who is organizing your trip for their suggestions to customize the trip, to recommend ways to have a lighter footprint, and for recommendations to learn from local people, eat local food, and support local projects.
